The Historical Society headquarters located at 801 K Street, NW between 7th and 9th streets in the historic Carnegie Library building at Mt. Vernon Square is temporarily closed.
Library and research services will resume on September 19, 2017, at the Newseum located at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Researchers should use the Group Entrance located at the corner of 6 and C Streets, NW. Photo ID is required.
Kiplinger Research Library

Holidays and Closings
The Historical Society of Washington, D.C. offices, library, and exhibits will be closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. We are open on District’s lone municipal holiday, Emancipation Day. Please note: The Carnegie Library is a shared space and, due to events held in the building, public hours may occasionally deviate from the posted schedule.
