Library Resources Workshop: Design Inspiration from the Archives

October 17 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

| Free

Join staff from the Historical Society and the DCPL’s Washingtoniana Division in the interim Reading Room at the Newseum for a workshop designed to inspire creative re-use of historical material.

The collections are a goldmine for design inspiration. In this workshop we’ll share a range of selections, from Victorian dance cards to mid-century modern government docs, punk rock posters to 1940s restaurant menus, gold-inlaid bindings to mod fashions in the Star collections. Let the typography and ornament inspire your next creative project!

Advanced registration is required for the free workshop. Access to the reading room is via the Newseum’s Group Entrance on C Street (enter via C Street Group Entrance beween 5th & 6th streets NW). A photo ID and a security check is required. Please arrive a few minutes prior to the event start time to allow for going through security. A staff member will greet visitors at the security entrance and escort them to the reading room.
