As a private, non-profit organization, the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. receives no government funding for general operations. We rely on private support from donors like you to advance our mission as an educational and research organization to collect, interpret, and share the history of our nation’s capital.

Unrestricted gifts to the Historical Society Annual Fund helps us achieve our goals:

  • Serve a diverse audience through its collections, public programs, exhibitions, and publications
  • Make local history easily accessible to the public to promote a sense of identity, place, and pride in Washington
  • Preserve this heritage for future generations
