1logoThe Rainbow History Project (RHP) and HSW will host a panel presentation on Saturday, June 7 from 11 am – 1 pm about the history of the Gay Liberation movement in DC in conjunction with the week-long Capital Pride.

Events include a Pride Parade on Saturday evening, and a LGBT Festival on Sunday, June 8 from 12 – 7 pm at which both RHP and HSW will be present at a booth to help inform attendees about LGBT history in Washington, D.C.

This is the official launch of the Society’s mobile strategies and over 300,000 attendees will have a chance to test their knowledge of local LGBT history via text! To see how the quiz works, simply text “dchistory” to the short code “56512” (the number you enter as the phone number). The system then deploys a series of text messages that help to engage users in a short and fun history quiz, with lots of trivia about local LGBT history.

Finally, users receive a request to “Give Back” to HSW to support both organizations with a $10 donation via their mobile carrier! Text “HSW” to “20222” and a $10 fee is added to donors’ phone bills. HSW will receive the proceeds thanks to the Mobile Giving Foundation technology.
