Above, the first page of a  4-page co-authored piece about the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.’s collaboration with the Rainbow History Project, featured in the 2014 Pride Guide.

Since 2008, the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. has served as the physical repository for the collections of the Rainbow History Project (RHP),  an organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and promoting an active knowledge of the history, arts, and culture relevant to sexually diverse communities in metropolitan Washington, D.C.

If you’d like to read more about how the collaboration began, where the partnership is today, and find out about upcoming events such as next week’s panel discussion on the 1970’s Gay Liberation Front, pick up a copy of the 2014 Pride Guide, available at honor boxes and in stores around the city.

HSW Collections Manager Anne McDonough and RHP board member (and HSW Collections Committee member) Vincent Slatt co-authored the piece; a 1979  image from another HSW asset, the Capitol Photo Service Collection, takes up an entire spread!
