The Historical Society receives many requests to host school field trips about D.C. history. Student visits always include a guided tour of the historic Carnegie Library, an introduction to our exhibitions, and an interactive learning experience about D.C. history. Students are instructed on how to touch and examine historic materials; they learn “hands-on” about how primary sources like photographs, letters, and even restaurant menus provide insight to D.C.’s past. Each $500 gift supports one group in the program.
