Researchers update Wikipedia articles about D.C. using the collections at the Historical Society.

With an increase in historical research being shared online, the Society is offering new ways for people to connect with their history. The Society has hosted several Wikipedia “Edit-a-thons” where novice users and experienced editors alike update the online encyclopedia’s articles on D.C. history using the Society’s resources.

Attendees used the Society’s collections, including books, photographs, pamphlets, and ephemera, to upload new content to the online encyclopedia. For those who were unfamiliar with how to edit Wikipedia, experienced editors were available to guide new users.

Keep an eye on our Events Calendar for upcoming edit-a-thons, including lunchtime sessions.
