Window to Washington features selections from the 4,000 rare maps, prints, photographs and paintings from the recent gift of the Kiplinger Collection to the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. The Kiplinger Collection was previously one of the largest privately held collections of Washingtoniana owned by the Kiplinger Family and displayed in the headquarters of the Kiplinger Washington Editors offices near Lafayette Square. Spanning three centuries the Kiplinger Collection is an important visual resource in documenting the history of the Capital City and greatly enhances the Historical Society’s existing graphic art collection. This exhibition marks the beginning of permanent public access to this remarkable private collection now at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.
